is-a.si Is Here: Free Domains for the Super Intelligence Era
2026-10-04
Somewhere between AlphaGo's Move 37 and chatbots passing professional exams, "AI" stopped being a niche research term and became the defining technology of the decade. We think the next chapter is already writing itself, and we want your corner of the internet to be ready for it.
Today the PFS Project is launching is-a.si, a free domain suffix built for the Super Intelligence era. Register yourname.is-a.si and the name says it out loud: this is a SI. Any service you would have proudly called an "AI service" last year? It's a SI service now.
AI is moving faster than ever
It's worth pausing on just how fast the field is moving:
- Protein folding, cracked. DeepMind's AlphaFold predicted structures for nearly every known protein, work that earned the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
- Olympiad-level mathematics. In 2024, AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 solved four of six problems from the International Mathematical Olympiad, a silver-medal performance.
- Superhuman play. AlphaGo's famous Move 37 back in 2016 was the first public glimpse of a machine inventing strategies no human had considered.
- Real-world forecasting. DeepMind's GraphCast now beats traditional numerical models on the majority of global weather targets.
Weather prediction, molecular biology, competitive mathematics, strategy games: in these domains the best systems no longer assist world-class experts; they outperform them. That is narrow superintelligence by definition, meaning capability beyond the best humans in a specific field. The pockets keep getting bigger, and the trend line only points one way.
From AI to SI
"AI" described machines that imitate intelligence. "SI" (Super Intelligence) describes machines that go beyond it. The first is becoming table stakes; the second is where everything interesting is heading. Whether that future arrives next year or next decade, one thing is certain: the people who will build it need somewhere to experiment today.
That's where is-a.si comes in. It's a suffix with a punchline baked in: deploy a model at llm.yourname.is-a.si, host your research notes at blog.yourname.is-a.si, or just park yourname.is-a.si as a statement of where you think the world is going.
What you get
Every is-a.si domain comes with the full PFS treatment:
- Completely free, with no annual fees;
- Full NS delegation: you control the zone completely, with all record types supported (A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX, wildcards, you name it);
- A real playground for DNS research: sub-domains of sub-domains, experiments, odd record setups. This suffix was made for them;
- No waiting: apply in the Nssnap Community web console and nameserver delegation is handled automatically.
How to get yours
- Set up DNS. Add your domain at a supported DNS provider. We recommend Bunny.net DNS first, with He.net DNS as a great alternative.
- Register at Nssnap Community and verify your GitHub account (at least two years old).
- Apply in the web console: pick
yourname.is-a.siand submit. It's free, and it's yours to build on.
See you in the SI era
The PFS Project remains a community effort, and none of this happens without the people who use it, test it, and tell us what to build next. If is-a.si makes you smile, a star on GitHub would make our day. And if you build something clever on your new domain, post it on Nssnap Community with the #PFS tag. We genuinely want to see it.
