A New Era for PFS: Now Sponsored and Operated by Nssnap Community
2026-10-04
It has been quite a journey. Between the NS network outage and the long stretch of quiet rebuilding behind the scenes, many of you kept faith with us. Thank you for that. Today we are finally able to tell you where PFS is heading next.
The PFS Project is now operated as a non-profit project sponsored by the Nssnap Community, an emerging global community built on equality, friendliness, mutual support, and altruism. It has found a new home in the standardized Nssnap web management console. From here on, applying for a domain and managing it all happen in one place, with no more pull requests for everyday operations.
Applying is now open to everyone
Create an account on Nssnap Community and verify it with GitHub (your GitHub account needs to be at least two years old). After that, you can apply for domain resources without limits, and nameserver delegation is handled automatically. Your domain starts working as soon as it is approved.
If you applied through GitHub, we have not forgotten you
Your suffix priority is safe. Sign in to the Nssnap Community with the email address from your Whois record, and your domain will be allocated to you automatically.
One thing to note: allocations for these existing domains can be completed starting October 7, 2026, so please allow a few more days. Once yours is done, the My Domains page will show the registration status of each of your domains.
A fairer system, run with care
Abuse has always been the hardest part of running a free domain service. Following the PFS guidelines, we are introducing new evaluation rules so that domain resources go to people who genuinely need them for lawful projects, and we are building an automated review process that can spot problem domains, restrict them, and reclaim them in time.
More suffixes are on the way
Nssnap Community is bringing new suffixes into the PFS family, so whether you are hosting a small blog or a long-running side project, there will be a name that fits just right.
One honest note: sTLDs that have stopped providing service will not be migrated or kept for registration. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you
Honestly, this project would not have made it this far without you. If PFS has been useful to you, whether for a blog, a portfolio, or a weekend experiment, we would love a star on GitHub. It means more to us than you might think.
And if you have ideas, wishes, or just want to say hi, post on Nssnap Community and attach the #PFS tag. We read everything.
